Context Sensitive Filtering

The results that are displayed to the end user can easily be filtered. For example, the Optimal People Picker can be configured so that one set of users can not search or view another set of users. This is particularly helpful in an enterprise environment that includes employees, partners and customers.

Search results can be filtered based on who is performing the search as well as the type of search being performed.

Enforce Additional Security

Optionally, an administrator can configure the Optimal People Picker to require that end users use groups for setting permissions within SharePoint and not allow individual users to be selected. By forcing a group/role security model, it reduces the possibility of a user gaining additional permissions and aids in ensuring least privilege access in SharePoint.

Enhanced Attribute Searching and Display

Unlike the standard SharePoint People Picker that only allows you to search on group name or user id, the Optimal People Picker allows you to search on any attribute on a user or group. Further, the search can be a wildcard search across multiple attributes at the same time.

Additionally, the Optimal People Picker can easily be configured to dispaly any attribute on the user or group in the search results. End users are no longer forced to accept what SharePoint displays.

By viewing additional attributes, the Optimal People Picker eliminates end user frustration and makes it much easier to search for and select the correct object.

Customizable Search Templates

Administrators can further simplify searches for end users by creating customizable search templates that assist users in finding the right object quickly and easily.

For example, search templates could be created for a "partner search" or an "employee search". Each of these templates would be pre-configured with an appropriate filter and even select the appropriate directories (searchbase, scope), etc.

Search templates contain pre-built search criteria and therefore provide a fast and easy way to execute common searches. This significantly reduce the time to search for and select commonly searched ojbects.

Multi-Repository Searching

The Optimal People Picker leverages the Virtual Identity Server for SharePoint, allowing searches and security to backend repositories (i.e. databases and LDAP directories).
